Description: Advanced Macroeconomics for Policymakers emphasizes on a wholistic approach to macroeconomics, beginning with a broad bird’s-eye-view of the field and then zooming in micro-founded elements and how they connect, interact and influence with one another. The main objective of the course is to build a concrete conceptual foundation, based on which macroeconomic policies can be studied, evaluated and analyzed. As such, the materials will not only follow the typical textbook flow, but also include heavy analysis of political and academic history relating to macroeconomics, policy discussions and thought-exercises on current events. At the end of the course, participants should be able to employ different economic theories, place them in a broader context of politics and history, follow the analytical and empirical evidence to arrive at relevant policy proposals or analysis.
